SIA Cadet Pilot Preliminary Interview (Stage 1) Experiences

Hi again, I am going to show u guys my experience attending the SIA cadetship preliminary interview (stage 1) held at Kuala Lumpur. Seriously, I didn't expect an invitation email in a sudden as I applied this position quite a some time ago in February 2018 for fun haha. I knew earlier its going to be tough journey to the end as I read from online forums that people saying Degree grads have a better chance than diploma holders like me to be shortlisted to the end. So, why not I try and see. If you don't try, u never know your luck. (My advise: To join SQ better take up Degree in Engineering related such as Aerospace,Mechanical, Electrical etc so you have better chance for this cadetship
It was around 11am saturday 21st April 2018 just when I woke up from sleep. I saw this email notification from Andrew Ling. I was shocked to see this.

And 1 of my friend just got it too haha. We both diploma holders btw. Quickly, I was in joy at the moment and went to prepare documents required in the email. I had 2 weeks to prepare for it. So don't procrastinate as time flies fast and you need to absorb as much information  as you can. They can throw you any questions of guard. For your info, relevant testimonials is not about your co-curricular certificates, its a written letter from your boss, lecturer about your personality, performance and so on. Besides, you can do eye checkup at eye clinic/specialist. It would cost around 100 - 200 bucks. I did for RM100 actually. After preparing for interview, finally the day came.

Reached the venue and went to the registration point. HR personnel gave us a form to fill up and sign back. Form indicates training bond and cost and some questionnaire.

So yeah this shows the details of the training cost. Then we submitted our documents to HR guys. They will check one by one to verify. After that, they instructed us to sit at the waiting area to be called up by interviewer. After few minutes of waiting, one of the HR guy called me into the room. I went into the room with full confidence by wearing coat which resembles as a Pilot. Interview started up with a captain saying hello and take your seat. Panel consist of 2 guys, 1 HR and 1 captain. Captain would throw you more questions than HR. Questions are depend on the panel. Mine was more to background questions and no technical aspects.

1. Introduce yourself
2. Why electronic engineering?
3. Why didn't persue aviation courses after your SPM?
4. Why don't u become electronic engineer?
5. What are the attributes of a Pilot should have?
6. Where are you studying now?
7. What do you know about SIA? How many aircrafts in fleet? CEO? President? so on (background)
8. What is the name before Singapore Airlines?
9. Why do you want to be a pilot?
10. Do you communicated with a Pilot before? What do you ask them? Do you ask bout technical stuff?
11. What do Pilots do?
12. Why don't you try for malaysia airlines?
13. Why not RMAF? What does RMAF stands for?
14. Do you have any questions to ask?

Basically these I could remember now. I prepared technical questions but none of them were asked haha. At the end, shook hands with them and left. Waited for my friend and he came over after minutes saying tough as panel were provoking him. Seems mine better abit haha and merely need luck for this.

After 1week 2 days of waiting, I finally gotten rejection email. Same goes to my friend. Well, SIA is a top notch airline and to get through is hard and luck. It didn;t deter me to keep trying for other cadetships and learnt this as experience for future interviews. (This is my first interview for airline cadetship so its ok, move on).
